PDF Preflight

Before you send us your PDF, there’s a way to preflight it and make sure it’s according to our specifications. All you have to do is open Acrobat, your PDF, the Preflight pane, Import the Ross-Ellis preflight setting and execute the profile; this will generate a report for you.

1. Open Acrobat

In Acrobat 7, 8 and 9, the preflight pane can be opened in: Advanced à Preflight

2. Download and Install the Preflight Profile

This preflight profile works for all Acrobat versions. Download it and click Options --) Import Preflight Profile, when this will be done, you will see Ross Ellis PDF Preflight in the list of profiles in Acrobat 7, in Acrobat 8, you’ll see the profile under the tab Imported profiles. The preflight profile is now imported. Lose the Preflight Pane. Importing the profile is required only once, it will remain in Acrobat for future uses.

3. Open the PDF you want to Preflight and Execute the Profile

To execute the preflight, you need to have a PDF opened in Acrobat. Open your PDF and Open the Preflight Pane. Once done, select the profile and click Execute, Acrobat will execute the selected profile so make sure to select it before clicking Execute.

Technical Standard Checks

Custom Checks

  • File Integrity
  • Image resolution higher than 225dpi
  • No OPI
  • No RGB color-space
  • All fonts embedded
  • No custom transfer curve
  • Line thickness is at least 0.5 pts

 

  • White objects set to overprint
  • Document contains JavaScript
  • Ink Coverage above 310%
  • Interactive form fields
  • Warnings on text using artificial styles
